Absolutely loved this book. I have struggled to find a book that really hooks me the last few years. This book did that and more.

Protag annoyed me. Spends most of the book being dumb and getting rescued by others, and then suddenly he becomes a hero? Come on, now.
Loved it <3 the whole world of the graveyard was amazing. Fantastic how the brain of Gaiman works. his imagination and characters are magical.
By the author of Coraline, follow the haunts of Nobody Owens -- "Bod" for short -- as he "lives" and grows up within the protective confines of a graveyard.
Author Gaiman clearly notes the _Jungle Book_ as an inspiration for a book that took him 20 years to write. Started when his son was two years old and crafted over decades, Gaiman creates a murder mystery thriller where Bod is the sole survivor after his family is brutally murdered during his toddler years.
Bod escapes to the graveyard where he is adopted by a long-dead couple. Mister and Mistress Owens are his adoptive mom and dad. The Owens and several other ghosts raise the lad. Bod learns the ways of the dead, picks up a girlfriend, a netherly protector named Silas, and is eventually thrust back into the spooky terror of facing down the evil doer who murdered his family.

Mixed review... unanswered questions, dangling dilemmas, very quick wrap up. I wouldn't recommend for younger kids, but preteens might like it. there were some "light heartened" moments, but overall not my kind of book :\
I cannot wait to have children to read this book with them.
Gaiman tells this story in such a way that it is accessible and frightening for children and still engrossing for adults. This may be one of my favorite Gaiman works.

Incredible story. I've alwasy loved Newberry Award winners. I loved the characters and the story- about seeing, being, and knowing. I really liked Silas and Lizzie, the witch. Great book! Easy to read- calm, nicely paced. Wonderful!
