A guide to disciplining your child that focuses on teaching instead of punishment. Siegel and Bryson suggest connecting emotionally and then re-directing using one of eight strategies (reducing your words, embracing emotions, describing what you saw, involving your child in discipline, reframing a no into a conditional yes, emphasizing the positive, approaching the situation creatively, and teaching mindsight tools).

A great book on disciplining for parents. It focuses on the science of a child's developing brain; and is written in a thoughtful and supportive way.
