I've now read and enjoyed all of Chase's books. They have a formula that I love: a Gothic-y, atmospheric setting + interesting characters + old secrets coming back to life. THE WILDLING SISTERS is no exception. Even though it has a familiar setup, it has its own unique spin. The sisters at its center are all sympathetic and likable. They're also flawed and relatable, as evidenced by their reactions to growing up and their always-evolving relationships with each other. The bond between the Wilde sisters is especially palpable. While the mystery in THE WILDLING SISTERS is pretty straightforward, it still made for a compelling story. I zipped through the book, anxious to know what was going to happen next. Even though I figured out where the plot was going pretty quickly, it was the characters I worried over since I became wholly invested in their plights, both collectively and individually. Like Chase's other two novels, this one kept me totally immersed. I can't wait for the author's next book!
Good book that keeps you intrigued with twists and turns. The contrast between modern day and the past is nice and done in a way that it doesn't feel jarring.

Both storylines had a great mood about them, thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Good follow up to Black Rabbit Hall, but some of the premise is too similar. Beautifully creepy and atmospheric as seems to be Chase's wheelhouse, and it kept me up to finish it last night.
A wonderful gothic tale with hints of ‘Rebecca’ in it

If you’ve not read an Eve Chase book you need to change that ASAP!
I love her style of writing and format. There is always a little mystery and this book was no different. It was so descriptive that I felt transported to Applecote manor.
I loved the characters and their back stories, Beautifully told that you can’t help but become fully immersed in the story

This is a well written story set in the Cotswold’s countryside. Jessie, husband Will, step-daughter Bella and daughter Romy decide to make a break from city life in London and move to a beautiful old manor house Applecote. What follows is a tale of discovery for Jessie and family along with the secrets that the old house is hiding.
Years before in the 1950’s Applecote manor belonged to Wilde family, however devastatingly the young daughter Audrey disappeared without a trace never to be seen again. Audrey’s cousins come to stay with their Uncle and Aunt during the summer heatwave of 1959 during which things will never be the same again.
I really enjoyed this story set in two different era’s, one follows the summer of four sister who stay with their aunt and uncle at Applecote manor during the summer of 1959. Sister Margot is determined to discover the truth about her cousins disappearance five years ago. While the other story follows the young family who buy the manor house in an attempt to start a new happy life away from the stresses of London.
I loved the way the family is bought together following all that happens to them in their first few months in their new home. A real treat of a book to read, bravo to Eva Chase!
I really liked the atmosphere of this book. Some sentences just did not make sense as sentences, and those always tripped me up, but mostly I really liked the characters and the house. I wish the present-day story had been given equal focus as the 1959 one, but overall I enjoyed the book.
