A fun romp, might as well have the subtitle of “Favorite Insults of the 1590’s”. I loved anytime Beatrice and Benedick were on stage, and when they disappeared, I waited with anticipation for them to return. The villain, Don John, feels a little empty in his motivations. I enjoyed the main plot between the scornful Claudio and the silent Hero. However, the play shines when it serves a playground for Shakespeare to show off his language prowess with the constant skirmishes between Beatrice and Benedick.
