The tragedies are my preferred plays but this is one my favourites from the more lighthearted plays. This bbc radio production is superb with an incredible full cast performance.

Everyone in this play is an idiot except for Beatrice and Benedick; thankfully they’re the original romcom OTP and I love them.

i really liked that shakespeare interrogated the misogynistic attitudes of his time and went into the emotional implications for women of such sexism but i hated that hero still married claudio!!!! he treated her awfully and then without even having a say- literally no dialogue after her “death”- she’s married off again. ruins the whole point of criticising misogyny in the first place, william.
