3rd-4th re-listen.

4 stars for the story, same narrator as the 2nd book so you know, narration sucks.

You know you'd think that after a year in a fated mating with Logan and what they went through in book 2 that Jin would have matured a bit but here he is all ready to prove you wrong. I might have been able to justify his actions because he had been living alone and trying to survive for about a decade BUT he wasn't alone AND Crane doesn't have TSTL tendencies.

Jin is an immature child that wants his own way when he demands it and to hell with everyone if he is denied. Frankly I admire Logan for sticking through thick and thin with him, especially when Jin's actions cost Logan a brother.

After the half way point where the Sepat started things picked up and I liked the story better because for once it wasn't all about Jin and what he wanted and needed and had to have (somewhat... it was still a lot of Jin but the focus was elsewhere as well).

Frankly unlike others I didn't mind the splitting up of the family, 'cos heck yeah kick let the others live freely without Jin's need for the spotlight and "let me show you how simple and easy everything can be will I fuck shit up others will need to clean" attitude.

Another thing that annoyed me was that apparently how there can't be 2 gay people in a room without one wanting the other.

4 Stars!

Wow.  This is some serious shit here.  If you thought [b:Trusted Bond|9542292|Trusted Bond (Change of Heart, #2)|Mary Calmes|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1291049853s/9542292.jpg|14428652] was out of its mind, this is beyond rational sense because for sure, this ain't your momma's shifter book.

Calmes has created something unique, never slowing the pace, never apologizing for the horrific stuff she puts Jin and Logan through.  She's making a point, making everyone see the truth of this world she has created, and making them notice the absolute, antiquated absurdity of their culture.

Convoluted and frustrating, compelling and exciting too - Jin and Logan realize what being true mates is, what they have to gain and lose, what they are and can be, what is undeniable, unquestionable, and impossible to destroy.  Their love.  Special and above all others.

So if you're ok with an over the top, violent, brutal love story that tests the two MC's to the max (for really no reason at all), then this is for you!!  *high five*

I'll be honest.  I didn't expect to be sucked into this like I did. My expectations weren't very high, but this grabbed me by the throat, slammed me into a couple walls, and clawed out my insides for good measure.

Definitely heady stuff.  Addicitve.  I see no reason to take a breather for the next installment, especially with an ending like that!! Talk about a game changer!

Meags, I'm grateful I had you to be indignant, angry and swoony with!

Just love this series. I love the bond that Logan and Jin have. I absolutely loved the set of Domin's story for the next book. All those foreign words had me tongue twisted in my head though. ha! But wow. So far, I have to say, I think this is my favorite of them.

Wow, just wow! This book was awesome and in my opinion, the best of the series. Though the ending to Jin and Logan's tale was somewhat bittersweet, it was beautiful nonetheless. Just like many of Mary Calmes' other books, this is one that I will reread over and over again. I'm glad to have read these books and am now eagerly awaiting for the continuation of Domin's story.

Book 3 of the fabulous Change of Heart series and I loved this book.

The great thing about every one of the books in this series so far is the fantastic world building and character development. Every single character whether the MC or supporting are fleshed out people who you have emotions regarding what happens to them.

The trip to Mongolia, the sepat and the new characters introduced while still including old favorites made this one my favorite of the series.

This is by far the best shifter series I have read.

I really enjoyed book 3. I loved the change of setting to another Semel's kingdom and the aesthetic of it, because it was so different to anything that has been before. I found the Sepat really interesting but it was really and endurance test for everyone. The tragedy of loss of lives was sad and unnecessary, the laws of the cats really are barbaric and need changing. Many in the book agree with this including Jin and Logan.
I have read this numerous times and this time I have listened again to the audiobook. The narration is very good and I love the musical start to each chapter, is really well done.

Brutal exploration of this fascinating world

There's a whole load of conspiracy and brutal trials which test the love and commitment not only of Jin and Logan but also of their friends as the gang travels to Mongolia to take out the corrupt ruler of the were-panthers.

There's a lot of detail in this book as the various rituals are held but it never slows down the narrative or feels out of place and it doesn't detract from the overwhelming love between the two MCs.

I loved the twists which took place in this book too and am eager to see what happens next now the world has been changed so much.

While I can say that this is my favourite of the series, that’s not a glowing endorsement. This series is an absolute mess and I’m so disappointed because the groundwork really has the potential to be something great and it’s just…not.

The plot surrounding the trials was interesting, but again we get a massive, convoluted info-dump of Semel & the werepanthers that inhabit the sacred city.

Unfortunately, Jin turns even more TSTL this time around and there’s a lot of unnecessary trauma thrown into the mix for the sake of “plot.”
