I had a fun and creepy time reading this book. A longer review to come perhaps. But, if someone enjoys horror, I think another reader would enjoy this book.

H. G. Wells has a writing style that I find guiltily addictive to read; there is always the perfect balance between detailed realism and sci-fi imagination, and the plot of ‘The Island of Dr Moreau’ is no exception. This is a tale of cruelty, enslavement, control of the psyche and obsession, which eventually results in the collapse of humanity and reversion to primal instincts. Whilst I think I have enjoyed some of his other short stories and novels more (such as ‘The Country of the Blind’ and ‘The Red Room’), this is still a classic of the science fiction genre and stands as a terrifying and unique read.

Makes one realize that man likes to play god and makes one wonder how animalistic we are as a species. Very good read

For such a short book it took me a while to read it. I think I’ve come to the realization that science fiction isn’t really a genre I like all that much.

The book itself I imagine would be a good read for someone who enjoys science fiction. It moves fast and the plot is very secretive. I don’t actually have much to say on this book other than I probably won’t think about it again after I put it back on the shelf.
