There’s some controversy surrounding this book because of a Dahmer reference, I happen to think it helped prove a point.
This is the story of the apocalypse. A virus starts to take over major cities across the world and its effects are so startling. The apocalypse is told through the view of 3 different women who are pulled in together through the chaos.
I could not put this down.

I found the ever-growing weirdness of this story to be captivating, which was super cool. The female characters were interesting, while the men more or less took a backseat here. This isn’t a man-hating statement so much as a statement of how refreshing it is to read books with more female characters, even if those characters are going through some real crazy shit.
Sister is not a book for everyone. Not at all. However, I think my fellow weirdos would devour this story. There are tons of triggers throughout, so please read cautiously if you are bothered by recent/darker elements.
Big thanks to Edelweiss and Tor Nightfire for this eARC in exchange for an honest review!

To review it without talking about the plot/characters sounds bizarre, but go in blind like I did. You won't regret it. It IS a pandemic themed horror story, so be aware of that if that is a trigger for you or something you would just rather avoid. This is very cosmic horror and HP Lovecraft reminiscent.
The body horror aspects had me putting my kindle down multiple times, and the story overall had me running to my favorite romance comfort reads after.
Thank you to the author and publisher for an ARC copy!

This definitely made me squirm a couple of times! The descriptions are vivid and full of gore and viscera, including descriptions of taste. So, there's a warning. But what the book has to say about the roles of women in society, their expectations and how they're viewed is so well done. I loved the use of the three POVs from women who were all so strong and all so different. I loved how science was used, the explanation of the virus was so so good. It is hard to say much more without spoiling. The only thing was the ending was a little bit disappointing. But only because I think I wanted just a little bit more.
