Wowza... THAT was unexpected. šŸ˜… What did I just listen to?? Now I have to watch the movie.

I was so confused the whole time and just when I started to think I had it figured out it would twist around some other way. šŸ˜†

Super short and pretty good. 4 stars. Maybe 3. I kind of feel like I need to listen again. šŸ¤£ Did I miss things? I feel like there were unanswered questions. Is it all even more obvious the second time around?

The writing was well below average.

Due to the constant beating over the head with faux-intelligent, intentionally pretentious dialogue, the ending came across as cleverly winking to the audience instead of an actual attempt at opening up a discussion about the story and its themes.

The first half of this book, when all the set pieces were put into place, was so intriguing. I wondered how it would all come together and it eventually...didn't. At least not in a satisfying way. My favorite part was how the setting--the dark wintry countryside--combined with the strange conversations and memories the characters were sharing to create a truly unsettling atmosphere. Not gonna lie, the scenes with the man at the window and the phone calls had me turning all the lights on when I read it on a night home alone. Definitely worth a read!

Itā€™s awful. It took me so long to read because the inner thought dialog was just boring. The end was just ā€œthis meeting could have been an emailā€ feeling. I didnā€™t need this many pages to just figure out this guy is fucked up and killed himself.
