If you enjoy the Stephen Colbert show you will enjoy this book. I highly recommend the audio version since Stephen, himself, is its narrator.

The book is just an extension of his show rhetoric. I laughed a lot, and listened through the entire book in one day.

Three stars because there's probably a good reason we get 30 minute nightly doses of Colbert, and not three hours' worth! While the book is entertaining (and intended as such) there's no other intrinsic value to it. I zoned out a lot because it was just more of the same.

Highly enjoyable, but my life - and yours - will be fine if you don't get around to this one.

I listened to this as an audio book and finished in three days. If you enjoy The Colbert Report, there's no question that you'll like this book. Stephen Colbert is true to form with his wit, sarcasm and satiric view of just about everything. With chapters on everything from education to sex, there's sure to be something to interest you. Each chapter also includes a testimony from an "expert" (usually Colbert or someone on his production team) which I found a little boring and unnecessary, but Colbert himself makes up for it instantly at the start of every chapter.

The audio book has an appeal in itself because Colbert narrates it. No one could read his words or deliver his jokes half as well. A really great book that will impress people if you die reading it, or listening to it in your car.

Every time I have read a comedian's book I have thought... "This would have been funnier as stand up." So this time I listened to the audio book instead of reading. The fist part is really funny. Some of the stuff on religion and imigration were pretty cool. I skipped the sports fan the second time he appeared because he was That annoying.

I laughed a few times and chuckled a lot. I borrowed this one from the library and I'm glad I didn't pay for it.

Really was hoping for a little bit more out of this. For one thing, while they were often the funniest part of the book, I thought the notes in the margin were distracting and interrupted any flow I might have gotten into reading the book. For another, I think the humor of Colbert is that he's applying his persona to current events, and this is what's funny. The persona on its own - which is basically all this is - gets tiring after a while.

Anyway, it was okay, but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as America the Book.

Funny. Funny book. You know by now whether you like his riff or not. Mighty funny. The margins are a particularly nice touch. Perfect for the thinking person's bathroom.

Amazing book! It had me laughing out loud, I kept reading this book non stop. If you love the comedy of the show you'll love this book. This book grabs you, spoons you, and strokes your hair while you sleep. Amazing!
