This story is fascinating but the author doesn’t seem interested in what seems to be the true core of the story: generational trauma and toxic masculinity. I also wonder if Patrizia is a maligned woman we might be more sympathetic to now than when the book was published. This seems like the kind of story that could benefit from re-examination and a fresh perspective.

No thank you. Just no.
When I think of true crime, I expect the majority of the book to be about crime. Maybe not necessarily murder but other crimes. This is not what we’re given here at all. 
The books starts strong with the murder and then we do a rewind and freeze before we plow forward at a glacial pace learning the business side of Gucci. I don’t know about any of you, but if I’m looking to read a book about the murder of someone famous, I don’t want their whole family history as well as the history of their company. A little sprinkled here and there would be fine, and even add context to the story but that isn’t what was given here. 
The title is misleading and even after reading the synopsis, I’m still confused how either of those things lead anyone to expecting the content of this book. 
The 2.5 stars are purely for effort in research. There is a TON of it that went into this book and I gotta say I’m impressed. I could never dive that far into this and put it into words, I’d have given up because frankly I find it boring. So kudos. But the marketing for this appears to have been for a different book entirely.

Rating more reflective of my personal interests than the book itself - I found the history of the Gucci family very interesting but I was much less interested in the corporate wranglings later on.
