jesus fucking christ... this is the darkest book i have ever read. nothing goes well, the ending is much sadder than it should be (its also leaves what happens next up to you, as if you're gonna be positive after reading this), yet its all completely realistic because people suck and at the same time are just people. especially cause its in russia where theres a history of oppression and stuff, so it does work. its just so damn upsetting but unfortunately realistic. the way the games took the story is much more uplifting, yet this is perhaps better... anyways a stellar trilogy, this may have been the pinnacle of it honestly. all the aspects of humanity laid bare in a setting where everything is straight up, and all the shit is clear to see. these books are some of the best that i have ever read, period. perfect for a pessimist like me lol but at the same time super thought provoking, every topic is dissected so well, dmitry deserves some fucking praise!

Gunoi.
Adio atmosfera, adio monstri, adio ratiune.
Am citit-o acum in romana. Aceeasi parere. Artiom e o gagica isterica, rar gasesti logica in actiunile sale. Iar finalul cu "riding into the sunset".... complet idiot.
Practic, la final, tot nu are nicio dovada ca ar exista supravietuitori in afara Moscovei.

I finally read the last book of the series.
My favourite is still Sasha. She's great. She's lost her gullibility and somehow still kept her spark. She's incredibly strong considering everything she knows and the stuff she does to survive. Thumbs up Sasha!
Reading this book, I was rather bored. The last hundred pages were more thrilling because of the uncovering of the whole big lie however the rest wasn't the best. I had to force myself to finish this book and that's not a good sign. Compared to the other two books there was something missing. I do have to admit though that I felt the chaotic atmosphere full of hate and desperation. The writing is good and as a final book to the series, the book is good enough. Therefore even if I am not the biggest fan of this particular book and was at times bored I believe it's well written.
Page 113, Life is like a branch.
That life is like a branch … Like the tracks. There are points on them that switch those tracks. And an end of the line— not just one, but a number of them. Some people simply go from here to there, and that’s it. Some go to the depot to their final rest. Some go through a secret connecting tunnel and skip across to another branch. That is … There can be lots of ends of the line. But! Each of us has only one destination! And it’s his own! And you have to set all the points on the tracks correctly to end up at precisely your destination. To do what you were actually born into this world to do.
The end of the series is perfect. I couldn't wish for a better one.
Overall it's a good book. It's just not as great as the other two. It was fun reading this whole series. I'm glad I did.

Metro 2035 follows the threads and characters introduced in Metro 2033 and Metro 2034. All the books in the Metro trilogy involve the geography of Moscow, predominantly the metro system. The author has a website http://www.metro2033.com/ with a map of the metro system on it available for free. If you get confused, it helps to access this map.
The books were published in this order:
Metro 2033 2005
Metro 2034 2009
Metro 2035 2015
The politics in this book are fascinating and even timely. The events in Metro 2035 really gave me a better understanding of the Russia of today and the mindset of those who rule her. I cannot say very much without spoilers from the first two books.
Rupert Degas does another excellent job narrating this book. He is fantastic. His accent for the Russian speakers if marvelous. When simply narrating, not the dialogue, he has a very clear voice with an English accent. His female voices are very well done. I only had trouble with one female voice and that is because that character had a lower voice (maybe alto) and I do not have the most discerning ears.
I suggest getting the Metro series as an audiobook because it does make a difference, unless you speak Russian. Having a narrator who pronounces the words that in print defy your comprehension, makes a good book great.
