Omg just read seven of these today -- we had five and two were on hoopla.

Volume 6 brings us to a conclusion of sorts. The renegade civilian Robot eventually meets Prince Robot. The Brand and friends are finally able to source the rest of the supplies they needed to save The Will but it is not without dire consequences. Saga is a reminder of how characters are multi-dimensional. A villain is not without their soft, compassionate abilities and a seemingly innocent can be just as heinous and vile depending on the circumstances. Volume 6 leaves us with character losses but also an appreciation of smaller figures who are mighty in force and will. I can not wait to get my hands on the other volumes.

Vol. 6 was so good! Alana and Marko, in the interest of finding and saving their daughter and mother(in-law), have given up on safe methods of funding and have turned to heists for profit and information. I AM HERE FOR IT. Meanwhile, Landfall totally surprised me by having a not completely terrible jail for "enemy civilians" that they have been grabbed along the way. Thanks to some quick thinking from Klara they claimed to be slaves held by the Revolution, thankful for an escape, even at the hands of Landfall.

The prison society here is shown to be a tight-knit community. They look out for each other and care about each other. While some of the guards who work there are resentful, others like the teacher who is there to 'educate' the children so they can be rehabilitated (which seems like it involves making them speak Landfall language instead of their own and probably involves some propaganda), genuinely seem to care about what happens to these civilian citizens. Also Petrichor is my new fav and I hope she has a large part in the next book.

Of course the BEST part was the Hazel/Marko reunion, closely followed by the prince's sincere desire NOT to help, followed by him helping anyway.

The side plot, where The Will is looking for the prince, who killed his love The Stalk... is not going where I expected? The Will is an absolute mess, he's on heavy drugs, he almost murders a small boy because he's the Prince's son - this from a man who almost got himself killed saving a small child from sexual slavery, and named her Sophie after his own sister. Gus, of course, was the true hero in that scene. The journalists are hilarious and in over their heads.

This series continues to follow several themes of family (found or otherwise), peace over violence, sacrifice, and a host of others. It's amazing how following one family around leads to a wider view of the intergalactic war as a whole. It's gorgeous and funny and heartbreaking, and I love it.

Read this brilliant volume a few months back, in single issues. Had forgotten to add until I saw that it has been nominated for the Goodreads Choice Awards for the best graphic novel, which this totally deserves and hopefully wins!
