About two-thirds of the way into this, I got so invested that I just had to finish it.
Before that, I'm not going to lie, it was a little slow-going for me. I'm not proud of it, but there were some passages that I quickly read, some might say skimmed. The author was earning my trust, but I was ready to trust her! I do feel guilty about it, but I just wanted to know what happened next.
Mostly about women supporting women, less so about the romance. Makes me think that we need a new genre because I definitely thought that the romance would play a bigger role. But the MMC was cute and fun, even if he's not on the top half of the call sheet. He was really just like a reward for our girl Harriet for going through a whole self-development journey.
I did learn that I am not a fan of laughing being written into the dialogue (e.g., "Haha, what a great punchline haha."). That didn't impact my rating, but I will carry this knowledge with me. You live and you learn.
