This is not what I was expecting the plot to go in this book but was presently surprised about the depth it gave and of course the angst of slow burn romance.

I feel like this story focused on Harriet’s life more than it did her blossoming relationship with Cal. The parts that did have the two set together were romantic and cute. For the most part, the book felt like it was more about Harriet deconstructing her toxic past relationships and how to move forward with her life. It was good, just not what I was expecting.

The first 100 or so pages of this book were a snooze fest. I almost DNFed. It finally got good, and it was really good towards the end, but I cannot forgive that slow of a start.

Harriet dumps her long term boyfriend after he proposes and, in a rush, agrees to let a room from a stranger. That stranger turns out to be a runaway groom from a recent wedding she photographed. This book was pretty deep (surprisingly) and dealt with trauma and emotional abuse. The ending is sweet and kept it at 4 stars. Sometimes I found Harriet to be too much, but as the book went along she got better as a heroine.
