5.0

5.0. I loved the themes of this book. That anger and righteous fury can be good and justified and helpful! That love is imperfect and growth is necessary. I love Euphemia and the way her
magical powers
worked. Love love love the emphasis on embroidery! And I read the author’s notes on her research on goodreads, and she clearly did a lot of research and knows what she’s doing in terms of the regency period. I loved the romance in the book, it was so heartwarming. Also, Effies friendship with Lydia made me so happy! Love to read about girl friendships where neither of them are petty or needlessly fight one another. Also, the romance is so incredibly asexual! No spice, but even beyond that! They love each other because each person makes the other happy, and they respect and trust each other! That is the core of romance I think, and I love that this book put the emphasis on that and not the kissing! (Not to say I don’t like that, but this was refreshing!) Overall, I loved this.
