This took me a very long time to read, there is never a good time to read this book and it is sadly the most depressing book I have ever read. Perhaps more hard hitting and shocking when listening as an audio book. I really admire Laura for taking the time to research and write this book. It was draining and incredibly shocking and concerning to read it, so I can't imagine just how hard it was to write. But I am so glad she did. This stuff needs to be talked about more often and the manosphere and all the horrific and insidious parts of it need to be uncovered for what they are. A must read but by no means an easy one.

I wanted to like this book but I just didn't leave with much. To be clear I am a feminist, the info in this book is credible, and the overall message is something that I stand behind. However as someone under 30, it undermined the expertise of the writer for me to hear her dryly reciting 5 year old subreddit member counts or grimly describing the kind of awful DMs she receives as a public feminist. Not that those aren't real, awful things they're just not shocking to anyone who's grown up on the internet. I think if you're 40 or older maybe this is a good entry point, but for anyone younger I'd recommend to start with the Contrapoints video "Incels" and go from there.
