This book was jarring, disturbing,  and repulsive, but also unfortunately deeply relevant in today’s political climate. The information presented was perhaps a tad outdated, mainly due to the intense pace at which the internet evolves, but still carried such significant weight it is worth the read regardless. Reading this caused me great distress, but it also gave me such a wealth of information into a sub-community I didn’t know even existed.

A bit outdated by now, I think. She’s very brave to write this sort of book in the current climate, but her solutions feel very ‘teachery’.

This is an excellent book that everybody must read.

Bates' exploration of the modern "male loneliness crisis" (gross) is telling and borderline horrifying. I couldn't count the number of times I held this book tight and thought, "What the actual ****?" Bates' investigation into various online chatrooms in the incel world glorify rape, violence and misogyny. The author skillfully links together these worlds which may appear distant (i.e., mass shootings and incel worlds).

I like the horror genre in general, but the horror of reality scares the pants off me. Thanks, Laura Bates for the nightmares.
