A delicious slow burn with a great pay off! I wish this book had more Christmas content, but it was full of top tier lesbian yearning. I don't ordinarily like books that span a long time frame but this was executed perfectly.

This is 100% believe this is my favourite holiday romance.

Carloline is a lawyer who has had a massive crush on her coworkers wife. Hannah, the wife, needs Caroline to help with her and her ex husbands divorce.

I love the relationship of Hannah being a single parent to Abbey and how Caroline grows to love Abbey too. This was just perfect!!

I loved everything about this. I've never smiled and giggled in public as much as I have while reading this book.
It's everything I wanted it to be and turned out to be a wonderfully comforting fluffy but intense romance story.

Narrator was excellent at conveying emotion between characters. While parts take place in Dec, I wouldn't call it a holiday book.

I don't know why for most of the audiobooks I read lately, I always start with this statement:

I think I would've DNF this book if I wasn't listening to it.

Let's dive into it.

Everything about the synopsis of this book caught my attention, WLW about a lawyer who helps her enemy's wife get a divorced? Single mother? Yes please! This book was off to a great start. I love how Caroline and Hannah's story started as a friendship and how cute Caroline and Abby got close. What I mean when I say I feel like I might have DNF this book if I wasn't listening to it, is that at times the book got stuck, the story didn't seem to be going anywhere and I didn't feel it as much because I only read the book in certain times of the day. But looking back at it, it definitely has that flaw. Also, the slowburn in this one may have been unbearable to read. They made me way too much for that kiss!!

And also, let's me just mention how amazing the spicy scene was. Omg the tension, the built up and the dirty talk!! I cannot handle this. My jaw was dropped while I listened to it. The only bad thing about it is that there weren't more of them!! I don't know exactly why but I expected this book to have a lot of spice and I was a bit disappointing. Also I would've love to see more of the spice scene we were given. I feel like they cut it too soon.

Another aspect I disliked is how rushed the last few pages felt. Michael's lesbophobic remarks were literally brushed off and I wish they dived more into it. How harmful could he be to Abby, for example. But I do loved that last scene of Hannah finally opening up about her feelings, it was romantic and adorable.

Overall I did like this book, at times I loved it so much! It just fell flat sometimes. It's hard for authors to at kids in romance books because most of the times they feel like just another plot tool, but Haley Cass did an amazing job and I loved Abby! She was the cutest and most hardcore Hannah and Caroline's shipper.

(2022/04/27 - 2022/04/27)

I'm in a reading slump again 😮‍💨 Y'know what'll cheer me up? A sapphic romance of course! Took a while, but this book certainly fixed me up.

Pros:
- I don't know why, but I absolutely love romances/books in general when there's a kid involved. Not the annoying type, but the sweet, loveable kind. I really don't know why, since I dislike kids in real life, but I guess book kids hit different. 🤷
- Caroline Parker. Oh my gosh. She was a wonderful, selfless character. Loved every bit of her with Abbie. Truly a joy to read.
- The romance was sweet. Definitely not one of my top favourite couples, but they were cute nonetheless. The slow burn was an extra plus. +

Cons:
- I wish there was at least one chapter/scene where we follow Hannah's feelings. She's very bad at talking about her feelings (mentioned in the book), so having some insight would be a great and new perspective!
- I did not like the start of the book. Most of the time, we were told what was happening, so it felt more like hearing about it than we were reading about it.

Sooo yeah. This book would've been around 3-ish stars for me, but the endingggg *chef's kiss*
I'm literally a sucker for a scene where we find out the person whom the main character likes loved them all along. Especially in this format where you find out the love interest drew the mc for a long time. Another favourite is full of pictures of the main character. Yeahhhh this bumped the book up to 4-ish stars.
