"We all fight our own private wars."
The thing I enjoyed the most about this book was all the space. The dialogue is written in a different line for each speaker and that gives the page a lot of space, spaces that are filled with all the things that are left unsaid. I really loved that.

Wow, but a beautiful story about two teenagers just trying to figure themselves out. There’s a lot of focus on discovering their identity, their sexuality, how they fit into their culture, and how they fit with each other. There’s also a lot of trauma in the adults as well but it’s handled very well. The characters all grow and change and I appreciate that!

There must have been something that kept me tethered to Ari and Dante's world, considering I read it all in one sitting, but I felt like it was missing something. I'm not sure what. At first, I felt it was really fast-paced, and i was unsure how to feel. Ari's constant denial did kind of bother me, but I understand why he acted the way he did. The characters also just repeat eachother alot, which i didn't really love. I felt it was kind of lazy dialogue but with that being said, some of the writing was really beautiful, and I really felt for the characters. It hurt my heart when Dante got beat up and when Ari constantly put himself down. I always dislike when the characters only get together at the very end of the book, but I mean, there is a sequel that I kind of have to read now since I've already been pulled into their world. I'm excited to read more about their relationship and how they'll move forward now that Ari is more secure in his feelings for Dante.
