I haven't read much Jodi Picoult yet. As a matter of fact, this one is my second one. It's, as usual, a very interesting and gripping read (I stayed up very late finishing the book this night and really wanted to know what would happen in the end). Although the initial sucession of different points of view with only a page each annoyed me, after a while, especially during the trial, it worked for me and the story. And although I couldn't put this book down, especially at the end, I thought the ending implausible. I should probably learn more about the court-of-law and how jurors work and give sentences, but after reading the trial and the final allegations, I doubt a jury would go for the veredict that ended up being decided... I just thought it too predictable and improbable. Otherwise, the book entertained me, Jodi Picoult proved to be a masterful storyteller, but it didn't have the same beauty "Second Glance" had (the only other Picoult novel I read).

predictable but still good. huge fan of picoult. She always keeps me interested even if I know what's going to happen.

As a rape victim this was gross. If your gonna write something like this at least have the girls get in some sort of trouble for lying in court. Just leave actual victims a bad name. In my opinion

I liked this book. Jodi Picoult tends to have one too many good ideas in a given book. Rape. Ok. Rape and crazy lady that pretends her daugther is alive. Better. Rape and crazy lady AND witches....must be a Picoult book. While sometimes this doesn't work for me, I found it intriguing in this book.

An unsettling subject matter, especially now 23 years on, but nevertheless a thrilling read that I basically read in a day

Jodi Picoult books are always interesting and dig into a lot of tough issues. I really liked this one, and thought she dealt with rape well. I felt like there were several underdeveloped storylines (or maybe there were just too many to go into all of them) and there were a few characters that weren't given much attention. I know that some of these characters are in other Picoult books, so I'm looking forward to reading those.
Overall, this is an easy but thought-provoking read. Definitely worth the time.
