Anticipation builds and action picks up during the last quarter of the book. Overall, it was good but I haven’t decided whether I’m going to pick the sequel yet—primarily because I never really connected with any of the characters. Tau’s focus on vengeance felt one-dimensional, and I wish Winter had delved more into the psyches of his characters and fleshed them out more. Maybe that happens in the next book!

the timeline was so fluid and i felt like the book was flying by as i was reading it. i love uduak and tau. i love the character growth and the bonds that the characters have. i wish the dragons were more involved and i want justice for them!!!!

I feel like I didn't read the same book as everyone else. It was GOOD, but it wasn't the most amazing thing I've ever read. I had absolutely no idea what was going on in the beginning of the book...like, a full 25% at the start. And even after I started to finally figure things out, it still wasn't all that easy to understand. I didn't fully connect with any one character. I don't know that I'll even bother with the second one because I just don't care what happens.
