This was... okay. There were parts of dialogue that physically made me cringe, which is why I'm rating it so low. The plot was also just okay, with some action. I didn't care for any of the characters, and I felt like the beginning and the build up was much better than the ending. Additionally, there was absolutely no spice, just lots of tension and build up to the big moment which just led to a basic "and then they slept together" statement.

"Scripture was wrong, the devils and demons didn't reside below our feet in the bowels of hell, they lived above the clouds, in ivory towers, controlling humans like pawn, sipping thousand-dollar wine."

Doyenne is not your typical romance book, there are no puppies and unicorns in this book. This book introduces you to Charlotte and Jacob. Two individuals who have fought to over come so much. Two individuals who are battle broken, however strong and fierce at the same time. Two individuals who come together to save and heal each other, little did they know this would happen.

Charlotte is a fierce kick ass woman who fights for everything she has, and for those she loves. Even though she is empty inside, she is able to show her love and compassion, in her own way, for those she loves. However if you are someone who betrays her, you better be prepared to face her wrath. This woman takes no shit and makes no apologies for it.

Jacob comes into Charlotte's life to protect her, little does she know he will also save her. Jacob would lay down his life to protect Charlotte, both physically and emotionally.

This book made me cry, made me laugh, gasp and say oh f*%ck several times. If you are wanting a book that grabs you from the first page, that sucks you in, so that you can never turn back, then read this book. Anne Malcolm has once again published a masterpiece that has touched my soul. I honestly believe this is her best work to date.

"Love is an open wound. As long as I love, I never heal. I’ll always hurt. But when I stopped hurting, it’d be over. So it wasn’t the end."

Ah, what a bittersweet story. It resonated within me while I was reading it.

Wow! This one was tough, not in a bad way, but in the way that you keep expecting one of the characters to do something, feel something, and they just don't. I kept thinking that nobody could be this robotic like, yet still be human.

Charlotte is just that, human, but cold. She is a ruthless business woman, who always ends up on top. She runs 4 successful companies, but when she passes on another she finds herself in trouble, which brings a wolf to her. A wolf in the shape of a sexy man just as closed off and emotionless as she is. Jacob comes to her rescue twice, leading her to hiring him to protect her.

Both have pasts that dictate why they are the way they are. There is no typical happy ending for them, yet somehow that works. There are a couple of twists, in the end they change her in a way that there is no coming back from.

The author warned us it was dark, but even I wasn't ready for this one. It definitely kept my brain on it's toes. Definite 5 star read.

Just amazing.

I went into this expecting something dark. What I didn’t expect was for it to be beautiful as well. Amazing.

This was a great novel. I liked how it wasn't the typical businessman and girl affair. It was a business queen and a criminal. The ending was great. Nice read.

Doyenne is an out-of-the-box original from Anne Malcom! The only thing this story has in common with any other is Anne’s ability to write female lead roles. Strong, independent, brilliant, tough...just a few characteristics they all have.

Charlotte is also broken, but not defeated. A trait she shares with Jacob. Together their bond could save them both. But forever doesn’t always mean happily ever after.
