My first ever Patricia Cornwell read!

I enjoyed this book a LOT - had great fun reading it, despite not actually thinking it was very good

I was uncomfortable with the way the narrator of the audiobook voiced BIPOC characters.

I saw people recommending this series to fans of queen Karin Slaughters' 'Grant County' and 'Will Trent' series.

The book was great, the mystery definitely kept you guessing with plenty of possible suspects. I think I was expecting something more "shocking" from the ending so it did feel somewhat underwhelming for me, but I certainly still enjoyed and cannot wait to continue the series.

If you love the dark and gruesome crimes and likeable yet flawed characters of a Slaughter novel, then you will like this!

It was page-turning, beautifully written and engaging. It bought up a lot of nostalgia for the 90's particularly the tech and I love the strong female characters. The women stick together from Kay and Lucy to the reporter and it gives hope even with the horrific events as the backdrop.
