3...I didn't know if I was going to like this time travel novel, I believe this is my first...I rather enjoyed it! The characters are just like all the other teen novels unfortunately! Pretty sure I am looking at a few love triangles, and the bad boy vs the trying to be good guy...But great storyline!!

This was a rec by my library and the blurb sounded too much like Doctor Who and River Song to ignore it. It even starts with a runaway bride in a Time Machine ;)
But no, it is a very nice story and has no further similarities. Science fiction and time travel with the old question of can you save the present by changing the past and save people?

I love how there are journal entries from the scientist who created time travel (since it is a time travel book) and that really helped with the world building.

This was a book I never would have discovered myself, let alone buy it. But I'm so glad that it crossed my path! The box was in the bookboxclub from March and it totally lived up to the expectations. And maybe, it was even much better than the blurb on the back suggested.

The plot consisted of a very nice mix of history, dystopia, science, heist and a tight little bit of romance. I have to admit that part of the science went straight over my head, but I assume without a doubt that it makes sense and was resourced properly, because the explanation of how everything worked and functioned was simply too detailed to be just made up.

But not just the plot worked great, the characters did too. They were interesting, layered and complicated. Not once did I get the idea that this was a good versus bad or black and white story, which was partly because the good guys make mistakes and the bad guys have redeeming qualities. And the lines between good and bad blur more and more the closer we get to the ending of the book.

The easy and flowing writing style, combined with the interesting character and on top of that a few very nice plottwists, make for a great first book and I personally really can't wait for the sequel.

I really think I should just give up on time travel plots.. I wish I could enjoy them but, it seems that the only time travel story I liked was Avengers Endgame. I have tried reading two other time travel books before this one and they all seem to drag.

2 star = meh, it’s ok.

I won’t read book two. This whole thing was, just....boring. I want to say convoluted but it’s not really the right word to capture it for me.

The best time to read a trilogy is after all three books are published

I’m giving this three stars only because it wasn’t 100% MY taste for a book. BUT I believe this is going to be a series so I can say I will be following it because of the way this book ended, I have to know what happens. I’d recommend this to anyone that likes YA books that have to do with the future, and maybe light romance. I can say I am excited for the next book!
