This is a fun, Matrixy, romancey, Wargamesy read about an orphaned teen bounty hunter and a tech billionaire in virtual worlds and IRL. And the end: total surprise to me, even if, upon further reflection, it feels implausible.

I received this from our book club's white elephant book basket exchange, and I am so glad I did! Intriguing from the start, the story sucked me in almost immediately.

It has been awhile since a book grabbed me this way, and I read it in less than a day. The strong MFC and the intersection of technology and real life were a huge plus. I enjoyed the dash of romance that in no way hurt the plot of the story, if anything it added an extra tinge of what the main characters were experiencing by the end.

I also enjoyed exploring the relationship humans have with technology. The observations of what humans are willing to give up in favor of ease of use or lack of desire to make a change were spot f&*+ing on.

If you enjoy sci-fi bad assery, mystery, sexy peeps, and complex moral questions, you will enjoy this book.

This book had been on my radar for over a year at this point, but for some reason I never got around to reading it until now. What a mistake on my part because Warcross was such a fun read! I was thoroughly immersed in the world of Warcross the entire time I was reading, and though I basically spoiled every part of the book for myself (way to go Lauren), I really enjoyed it. Definitely pick this up if you’re looking for a fun, fast-paced, and futuristic story that will capture all your attention from beginning to end. I can’t wait to read Wildcard next!

Super fun audiobook, the narrator is great!
I'd describe this book as like a more diverse YA Ready Player One set in Tokyo.
I was a bit weirded out by Emika and Hideo's relationship because I don't really remember them saying how old he was, but I feel like he must have been at least close to 30?? and she is 18.

Will be reading/listening to the sequel.

Fantastic! Marie Lu is just a master of dystopia!
This book was so much fun. It had everything that I love about dystopia and it was masterfully executed. It was thrilling, exciting, and thought provoking. The plot just kept me going. Even though I saw quite a few of the twists coming, it didn’t stop me from being invested.
Emika goes through some wonderful development. Usually I heavily depend on some strong side characters, but this book is very much a solo show for Emika. However, I liked her so much and everything about the book was so good that it didn’t bother me at all.
I’m definitely going to read the second book as well!

Hmm it’s not the best book I’ve read but it’s not the worst either. A pretty decent book, lighthearted in its own way.
