A fascinating depiction of the courage and ingenuity to risk everything necessary to self-emancipate by an enslaved couple in Macon, Georgia. While the current times in which we live are fraught with political machinations, they pale when considered against the terrible times of slavery, and the divided nation that split apart to determine the slavery question once and for all. Rich details propel this story and reveal an incredible and important aspect of abolition efforts and regional disputes on both sides of bitter debate. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Such an interesting and informative book. I I learned about the Crafts daring escape from slavery and also the history related to slavery and the abolitionist movement. Well researched and well written.
