wooo good book 🎊 finished in about 7 hours (in between work 😞) . i loved the first chapter, but the second was so hard to get through honestly. nova/jonathan talks so weird and it all blends together. also quite a few typos with his name??? but i loved it. fast paced and a good read.

would i read again? no but i like it 👍

From the very start of the series we got breadcrumbs of Lila and Nova, and being a sucker for a good friends to lovers, I was all to excited to finally pick their story up.

For the most part I enjoyed it, they were sexy, steamy and when Nova would be honest with himself, swoony. I didn't want to stop listening to their story which is why I finished the audio in 2 days.

But at the same time I felt a sense of disconnection. Although a great addition to the Fallen series, there wasn't a lot of the MC in this one. We got glimpses here and there to remind us that Nova was a brother, but otherwise you could have easily missed it too. It felt weird since he was a part of all the previous books one way or another.

Some things in this story didn't really make sense to me, and I didn't understand the need for it. For example - Nova and the therapist; I'm not saying people from good homes can't have their demons, but in relation to the past books and the series, it felt like Giana was trying to justify why Nova rejected his love for Lila, when there wasn't really a good excuse other than he wanted to be a manwhore—which is fine considering their age gap and that he was young. But the random addition to a therapist/predator who aborted his baby when he was 19 was strange, especially since she showed up and disappeared just as quickly to never be heard of again. Dramatic affect? It felt like it.

Overall:
Besides the few things that didn't make sense to me (meaning I didn't see the need for them) and the lack of MC moments, I really did enjoy their story. I was expecting OW drama considering Nova's past, but during present day in the story it never happened and that was truly refreshing to see in a book of this genre. Although I would have loved to have seen the pining and groveling from Nova, I did like that Lila had her moments of standing her ground even if we didn't truly get to read about it.

So although this isn't my favourite, it is far from my least. Like I said, a great addition to the Fallen series.

**If I had one critique it would be to swap out a few of the sex scenes with those vital and pivotal moments. I would much rather see the hero grovel and pine for the heroine, or do mundane couple things than another sex scene.
