There was something about the last two books in this series that irritated me and I think I finally figured out what it is.
The plot. The characters make so many pointless decisions and it just felt so sloppy.
I love welcome to the dark side, it’s one of my favorite books, but the books following seemed to have been written by someone else. I’m not sure there needed to be more stories, it should have just ended with that. (WHY did we need another King and Cress story? So he can be killed off? I’m glad I skipped that one)
So Lila goes undercover to work for an evil porn/sex trafficking boss, this plot kind of stalls after Nova and Lila start having sex but then is restarted so she can find some convenient evidence on the boss’s computer.
First of all, the operation itself has the boss, her bodyguard and an undercover informant, and that’s it? And she can just walk into the boss’s office, rifle through her desk and get access to her computer just like that? Then why didn’t she do that the first day? And why the hell couldn’t the Fallen’s genius hacker find this information out? He can tell when she uploads a porn video under a false name within minutes of her doing it but can’t find a website attached to a legal porn site?
Don’t get me started on the long lost brother angle. How cheap. I don’t know exactly how that turned out because I started skim reading 85% in but are you serious? What was the actual point of bringing back her beloved brother at the END of the book?
I wasn’t sure if this book was to focus more on the romance than the plot but even the romance sucked. We are bashed over the head with how Nova doesn’t feel he’s good enough for Lila but then he starts having sex with her. And every time we get his POV he talks about how much he cares about and loves her but it’s “not enough”.
Okay Nova acted so selfless with Lila when she was growing up but now he thinks he isn’t good enough even though he’s clearly in love with her. And then again, 80% in we are introduced to why Nova thought that, because his evil therapist told him so for years when he was a teenager. Again, sloppy. I did not feel that trauma, it only seemed like a convenient plot twist to add to suddenly explain everything. For me, it did not. I can get how that would screw someone up, but it didn’t fit here for me.
Overall, the story should have been at least 20% shorter and the series should have ended with Welcome to the dark side. Even the sex scenes are getting a bit overdone and the male characters are all starting to seem the same.
I don’t usually like to give 2 star reviews for authors I enjoy, but I think I’m so disappointed because Welcome to the Dark Side was such a favorite of mine. I don’t know why these others exist and they almost feel phoned in. I will finish with the 6th book but my hopes aren’t high.

The plot was a mess, I didn't believed Nova was actually in love with Lila. The writing was meh.

Could NOT stop reading! The many emotions I felt throughout this book were crazy! Lila and Nova were SO hot! They went through so much together growing up and I loved seeing the backstory of their lives from both POVs, it really showed just how close they were and why Lila loved Nova so much. He was her savior and she was his Flower Child.
