I loved The Selection, so I thought this would be a great standalone palate cleanser. I found this a little boring. The instant love came off more of an infatuation. It wasn’t bad, but wasn’t for me.

I was captivated- until the end. The main characters decisions at the end sent the book right back to the beginning. It changed absolutely nothing. It’s sad to think that an ending can easily ruin the whole book. I’m once again feeling let down by Kiera Cass. Besides The Selection Series, I’ve been disappointed in her work. I don’t think I’ll continue to read Kiera Cass.

All I can say is Kiera did amazing with this book. I listened to it as an audio and I think it was one of few that NEEDED to be listened to in order to fully understand the pain that was felt. Also had no clue that’s how their names were spelt since I had only listened to it. Lol

Insta-love, even if the couple doesn't get to be together right away, is still insta-love.

Could have been an interesting idea, especially if the other sirens had been discussed to the degree that Akinli's (what what what what what what what) fantastic traits were. Instead, we get insta-love and angst.

One of, if not the, worst cases of instalove I've ever read. Not only did the characters fall in love insanely fast, it was the love to end all loves, soul mates, die without the other kind of love. It was ridiculous and brought the whole story down.
