Overall, I did not actually enjoy this book. It some good redeeming qualities-the plotline of a tech-savvy vigilante working to end human trafficking was good, as well as the inhereted home and the murder investigation carried out by Adeline. But my opinion of Zade was completely ruined by the fact that he was a sexual predator himself. Maybe some readers can look at this through a naive lens but having worked with both individuals who violate the sexual boundaries of others, and the victims who carry the shame and guilt for decades because of their sexual trauma, this plot line was realistic, sure -- but glamorizes stalking, violent sexual assault, and coercion/kidnapping as the budding of a romance rather than its own case of human trafficking (ironic).

Aside from my personal feelings about the role of stalking and rape as a romantic storyline, the plotline felt too busy-too many switches and moving parts. It did a disservice to several concepts that, had they been more separated, could have made for a very strong book. I felt similarly about the overuse of curse words and the sexual content, it all felt like the writer was trying too hard when, without those things, the writing style would have been much stronger.

Genuinely, the worst book I’ve ever read. There are unpublished fanfics on AO3 and Wattpad with more care for their plot, characters, and writing than this piping hot garbage. I think the only reason the book continues to circulate is because of the “shock value” it offers to readers who don’t typically read smut or horror books. If the characters were at all likable, I probably could have rallied through the last half, but they’re all insufferable. Zade needs to be institutionalized or euthanized - I’m still on the outs for which one should happen. Addie is not relatable, but somehow predictable and boring? Daya is the only somewhat likable character in this book and I hope she lives a long, happy life away from her trash best friend. Anyway, I never DNF but I can’t bring myself to push through this mess any further.

OH MY FUCKING GOD. this book had me on the edge of my seat after it picked up. i’ve tried reading this book two different times but the audiobook made the experience so much better!!! being able to hear zade and addie’s voice made it just significantly better. i absolutely can’t wait to finish the series when i get another audible credit!!!!!

at the end when jay said it was a trap my stomach fell to my fucking feet. there was a brief second that i thought jay was behind the whole thing but i was VERY mistaken. when it went to addie’s part i was in shock to hear max’s name!!!

Adeline Reilly Is a 26-year-old successful author who resides in her family’s home that’s been passed down generations, the Parsons Manor. While renovating this Gothic style home, this home slowly reveals secrets. No, this is not a paranormal romance.
There’s been a mystery regarding the murder of Adelines great grandmother. And this house holds the answers to it all.

During a book signing, Adeline ends up in the direct sights of a mystery man who immediately becomes enthralled with her beauty and voice.

“All I want to do is break her. Shatter her into pieces. And then arrange those pieces to fit against my own. I don’t care if they don’t fit - I’ll fucking make them.”

This is how we meet Zade. He’s introduced as a crazy ass stalker. A smart, highly intelligent stalker who gets what he wants.
The thing with Zade, while he does have these psychotic tendencies, he actually is a modern-day Robin Hood type. He kills bad people to save the innocent. And I think this is where it’s extremely important to read the trigger warnings in the beginning of this book.
Zade infiltrates sex trafficking. Child sex trafficking. Child sacrifice. Zade created “Z” who has a knack for computer science and his skills surpass top hackers and government organizations. When he accidentally stumbled upon videos in the dark web that included the most horrific acts against children, it changed his life. It was simple. He decided to make it his mission to kill them all.

Zade is one of the most unique characters that I have ever read about because he is a stalker and manipulating a woman into loving him. And telling her that they will get married and have children and doesn’t give her a choice. But he’s one of the most intelligent anti-hero characters that I absolutely love because he does so much good. The way that he treats other women and children that he rescues, he’s so soft and delicate with them. That I actually don’t mind what he’s doing to Adeline. Lol.

This book was phenomenal. It’s one of those books where The more you read the more layers and layers of mystery slowly unfold. So you have the mystery of Adeline‘s family. You also have the sex trafficking and child sacrifice aspect of the story where we are following Zade into finding these horrible people.
I also wanna point out that I literally squealed in excitement when a crossover from Satans Affair happened.
If you love horror, you have got to read the short book of Satans Affair and then read Haunting Adeline. There are character crossover’s and it just made me so freaking happy to see Sibby again.

This book was absolutely amazing. I think it’s going to be one of my favorite books I’ve read this year. Definitely in my top 20. Now this book does leave on a cliffhanger so please note that before reading this book. I hate when I see reviews say in the book was great but I’m only giving it one star because of the cliffhanger. So if you’re that type of person do not read this book until the series if finished because the cliffhanger is a huge one!!!
