Campbell, hand over your gender right now.

4 stars. A husband and wife both hire the same assassin to kill the other. Wife ends up falling for said assassin. This book wins just for that bad ass plot. This was seriously so good.

I loved that Justine didn’t know that Campbell was hired to kill her. The dynamics between them was really hot. The relationship moves fast but it’s written so well that I found that I didn’t mind at all. Campbell is such a mysterious character and I’m glad that there is a sequel because I cannot wait to know more about them and their past. Justine is fierce in her desires and I loved that she wants to take back control of her life.

I will say that the reason that Justine and Richard (the husband) wants to kill the other makes no sense when they could just divorce and save each other the headaches but whatever. It’s still a really cool plot and it definitely delivers. It’s paced well, the writing is good, and there are some seriously steamy moments. I’m excited to see what happens next.

Love the nonbinary representation. It was a fun ride that went by quickly. Was a bit predictable, but I am not mad at it.

I really enjoyed this book, the premise made me pick it up (wife and husband hire the same killer) and I was left wanting more.
It's always a pleasant feeling, especially when there are three more books revolving around Justine and Campbell just waiting to be discovered.

well, a woman planning to have her trash husband murdered and falling in love with the assassin she hired is the best premise so far this year.

Campbell the mysterious enby assassin with a secret past and I love everything about them. The parts where they recon and plan the murder were beautifully crafted.

" Some people want vengeance more than they want peace. "

Justine is the gallery manager with a cheating and abusive husband. It's easy to justify her actions and to feel why she would fall so easily for Campbell.

It gets a little too insta-lovey for me by the end. I feel like it would have been worth the wait for some things to happen later in what is an ongoing series. But I have no regrets about buying the first three books.
