I like the "janitor of the post-apocalypse" series from this author so I was curious to read more from him. Jig is a goblin that has more brains and less sight than he is comfortable with, and his life is turned upside down when he crosses the path of two human prince's, a dwarf and an elf. This is a fun adventure in search of a treasure by a party that is not totally convinced it is a good idea.

Unlike other Graphic Audio adaptations, the accent of this narrator annoyed me to no end. I am not an English native so I am not sure why it irritated me so much.

Although I like the concecept of a supposedly little bad guy, coming through as a hero, it was just slow. I don't know why, it should have been funny, but maybe it was too obvious a set up for another book. Too many off details?
I finished it to know how it would end, but I am not eager to read any more of this series.

Listened this as a graphic audiobook and while O enjoyed it for the most part, the sound effect and so on. I had quite a difficult time getting into it Everytime I've stopped listening to it for some time. The voices fit very well for the characters, but can't say they were very relaxing to listen to. But as I got used to it each time I could barely stop listening to it and I really started to lime the little goblin. He just grew on me and at the end of it, I didn't want it to end.

I was unsure about this one to be honest, it was the story of a scrawny goblin after all. But I should not have feared, it was a Hines book after all.

This one was amusing, oh those silly humans ;) See Jig lives with the rest of the goblins where goblins live. And sometimes pesky humans aka adventures come into those caves looking for stuff, killing goblins and just being so darn annoying.

And that is what happens. A dwarf, a wizard, a prince and a thief comes looking for something and Jig have to help them. There is danger, adventure, treasure and one scared, yet brave goblin.

I need to read more Jig books. I can't wait to see what he does next.

Ugh. Throw this into the "could have been good"category. This seems to be a theme with Jim Hines. He has some good ideas, but can't follow through (my other time with Mr. Hines being Libriomancer). The book this time though is about a goblin name Jig who the story focuses on. A bunch of terrible D&Dish adventurers come to find the rod of creation in this gigantic cavern. (warning the twist is stupid).
One of the biggests issues that i had with this book was that it really would have benefitted from being written in first person. All the thoughts, ideas and actions really lent this story to be a first person story. It not being so really hurts it, and I never thought i would say that.
The other big problem in this book is that not a single character is likable. Seriously. No one. Jig is annoying, the elf girl is whiny and switches between emotions very quickly, the dwarf is kind of just there, the prince is a butt and the wizard is stereotypically wizardly.
Not a single character develops. No one learns a lesson, and there's no FUN in this book. It's just a pure schlog. I wanted to see the other party members, you know, realize that the random goblin is a useful party member and learn to like him. NOPE! That would require character development. Let's have them act exactly the same as they did in chapter 1. And let's have Jig murder people. Cause why not?
I don't know WHAT Jim was going for in this book, but it's just plain unpleasant. I even considered reading the second book until the final few chapters. Afterwards I was just disgusted. This book took me two weeks. It shouldn't have taken me that long but I had to put it down. I was not having fun at all which is very sad. It wasn't even acceptable 3/5. it was unpleasant so it gets a 2/5. Not the worst written thing ever, but not fun, not enjoyable, no character development, and boring in many places. That's two tries I gave to Jim Hines. I think i'm done for a while.

2/5.
