While I really enjoyed this book and how much each families lives intertwined, I find it difficult to classify this as a thriller?? It meanders a bit too much and definitely felt a lot like a Liane Moriarty book in that it leaned more contemporary with thriller-y themes.
I received Cul-De-Sac by Joy Fielding in a Goodreads contest and I am under no obligation to post a favorable review.
If you have ever wondered about your neighbors lives or drove by a neighbor and tried to imagine who lives there then Cul-De-Sac will satisfy you in a clever and entertaining way. Fielding develops a group of 5 neighbors; each with their own set of problems so that you feel like you have stepped into each ones house and can see their dirty secrets. I kept turning the pages wondering what direction the story was going in and as the pages got fewer and fewer I was beginning to think I would be left feeling let down. HOWEVER ...Fielding was able to give the reader an ending that did justice to this cleverly written book.

That would be 3.5/5.
This book was not what I was expecting. I genuinely thought there’d be a murder in the first 100 pages and the rest would be to guess who from the 5 houses did the kill. But it’s really not it. You get 5 different storylines with troubled people, who could all be someone who decided to pick up the gun in their house and commit murder. Even though there’s not too much action, you find yourself caring for people and root for them getting better things.
Dani, Maggie and Heidi all have my entire heart and I would die for them in an instant.

I really enjoyed this book. The beginning was a slow build. However by the end all of the characters come to life. I feel like I know each of these people personally! Definitely glad I read it!
