I love Joy Fielding, always have, always will, but I do not think that this is one of her stronger books. It still gripped me and it is definitely an enjoyable read, so I would still recommend it, but others like "The other woman" are stronger, in my opinion.
The overarching theme of this book is summed up in this quote: “You can’t change other people, she remembered hearing on Dr. Phil; you can only change yourself.”
I can’t decide whether this is 3.5 or 4. Maybe it is 3.75. I have to think about it. I enjoyed it, though it was less suspense-y than most books in this genre. In the beginning I had a little trouble keeping track of who was who. But I got it down at some point.

Carlyle Terrace - a quiet street in Florida with five houses. But those five houses hold many secrets.
The residents are varied - a women running from a traumatic experience and estranged from her husband and trying to move on with and raise her children; the doctor and his dentist wife with two small children, what appears to be an amazing life and many secrets behind their doors; a couple struggling after the husband loses his job and weaves a web of lies he can't seem to get out of; an elderly woman whose somewhat troubled grandson moves in and might be more than she bargained for; and the newlyweds with the meddling mother in law who only adds to their problems.
Then there's a gunshot and someone is dead. But who? And why? As the story unravels you realize it could be any number of people and the reason are plentiful.
The characters and their secrets were well told. The multiple point of view, I believe, only added to the depth. I really liked some of the characters, while others I grew to despise.
Lost of twist and turns in this page turner and it will keep you on your toes until the very end.
Thank you to Ballantine Books and NetGalley for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

Joy Fielding has done it again in her 29th novel. The Cul-de-Sac pulls you in to a domestic suspense amongst the lives and tangles of the residents Carlyle Terrace culture-de-sac. Unemployment, marital strife and separation, parenting, teenage angst…what could possibly go wrong when there are guns at many…most…of the households?
If you enjoy a story that captivates and keeps you reading, this one is a perfect one or two sitting read.

Wow, I usually have mixed feelings about an alternating narrator but I don’t think I’ve ever been so invested in characters lives!! Devoured this book from start to finish and loved every second of it!
