Joy Fielding writes juicy, gossipy novels. Life on the cul-de-sac is about to get interesting. The novel opens with a bang, literally. Gunshots ring out and surprise the residents of the cul-de-sac. But you don't know until the end of the novel who got shot. After the first few pages, the book goes back several weeks so you meet the residents. They are Nick and Dani, 2 doctors, and their sons. Maggie and Craig, separated, and their daughter and son. Julia and her grandson. Sean and Olivia and their kids. Aiden, suffering from PTSD, his wife, Heidi and his bossy mother, Lucy. All of these families have issues, ranging from domestic abuse, alcoholism, fear, and more. Plus, they each own at least one gun.
This is a quick novel, with some interesting story lines. I always enjoy a Joy Fielding novel. I simultaneously listened and read, and I enjoyed the audio narration.

Thank you to Ballantine and Netgalley for letting me read this book early. This one publishes 8/10

This book is quite a ride! I normally hate reading about a million characters because I have a hard time keeping them organized in my head, but Joy Fielding does a wonderful job with making them all different enough to help keep you on track. I was very engrossed with this book and ended up reading it pretty quickly. It was very entertaining and I definitely recommend it but must mention there are a plethora of trigger warnings in this one.

At the beginning of the story you learn someone has just been shot and then we travel backwards and get to know all the neighbors living in this cul-de-sac together before the shooting. A diverse group of neighbors, who all have their fare share of secrets. And all have access to guns.

Easy read, a little suspense and it ended “the right way”.

Enjoyed this more than I felt like I should. Kind of reminded me of desperate housewives for some reason.
