A beautiful (albeit unfinished) novel full of beautiful imagery and adept descriptions of people, just living their lives. The prose is there to be savoured as you watch the love between two characters bloom. Heartbreaking & breathtaking. A masterpiece.

The beauty of the words and images created, juxtaposed against the simple and plain yet touching language of the characters made this book a feast for the senses. I feel so moved by the story and by the loss of Richard Wagamese. This is the first of his novels that I have read and I will now be making my way through the rest.

Beautiful writing, evocative and well paced.

I wish Wagamese was able to finish this book. I was really getting into the story and relationships. Alas, it was nice to read the short synopsis of how he intended it to end if he did finish the book.

So sad that this author passed away before he could finish this novel. I’m imagining that his spirit remains ever present in the grandeur and beauty of the outback running with the wolves and blowing like a gentle breeze. Learning to trust and give back is a powerful lesson.

The author had an amazing way of portraying the reality of people and emphasizing how love can change people even in the most difficult of situations.
