Loved it! it puts a new twist on fairies. I most admired the blossem part, it caught my attention the most... i would totally ditch David though, i think we can all agree Tamani is "the one".
I like it, although it could have had a more interesting storyline. It didnt captivate me straight away, I think it got better as i read on.
Sweet and enchanting... a book full of magic, romance and danger. What more can you ask for?
I´m in love with this book and I can´t really begin to describe why.
"Wings" is a modern fairy-tale with characters you easily fall in love with from the very first page.
Besides being only just a cute book about faeries it also has an exciting story that captures your imagination and it entice you into a world so wonderful and magical it makes it hard for you to lay this book down.
I recommend this book to everyone who loves fairy-tales, faeries, cute love stories or just a sweet little book for an easy read... ;)

Wings was definitely a unique take on fairy mythology. And I finally get the significance of the cover now, which I have to say fits the novel perfectly.
I’m a huge fan of the Faery/Fairy/Fae... (was it is really?) genre, or rather sub-genre. I wasn’t surprised that I really liked this novel. Sensational plot line, really different than anything I’ve read. The first part of the novel moved a little slow for me. But once I became fully engrossed in the world that Pike created, I couldn’t get through the pages fast enough.
The writing was outstanding, it flowed really well. It’s one of those instances where you don’t realize your reading it’s so easy to read. Maybe that’s just something that happens to me personally, but I love when it does.
The characters were also really well depicted. Although we don’t know much about Laurel’s history, I still felt like I really knew her as a character, and even though Tamani’s presence in the novel is few and far between, he is probably my favorite character, which says a lot for Pike’s character development.
And then of course one of my personal favorite elements in any story.... the love triangle! I can’t wait to see more of that in the future novels, as far as I’m aware I believe there are to be three more, consisting of a four book series.... I could be wrong.
Overall, a exciting and beautifully written novel!

This book was an excellent palate cleanser after the darker series I just recently got stuck in. The whole story is light-hearted, and never takes itself too seriously. Our main character Laurel, grows a flower on her back and predictably freaks out. From here the story begins our path to finding out more about their faeries, and this version of their lore.
The most refreshing part of the story, in my humble opinion, is that the romance of the story never takes over Laurel or defines her. In this story, you will not find soul mates at the ripe old age of 15 (nineteen in faerie years). Though there is an interesting love triangle going on, even if it's obviously a duo, she is attracted to both men and in the end chooses based on where she wants the direction of her life to take her. It's not often you see characters making choices for themselves instead of for a man.
You can clearly tell there's a lot of world building that has already happened in the background by the author and is just waiting to be explored in the next installment.

I first read this book in 2010 when I was 11 years old. This was the book series that got me into reading and sparked my interest in fantasy books and the fae.
After re-reading this book after 7 years I can give my honest review - I still love it.
The story line for me is very interesting and I love the amount of detail that goes into it, not too much, but not too little.
Although, I enjoy this book, I have read more books since first reading it years ago, and I can definitely say I have read better books, but this book will always be a favourite because of the fact it introduced me to reading and fantasy books.

I have to say that I'm disappointed with how easy this book was to read. I was hoping for something a little more... challenging isn't the right word, and neither is adult. I suppose I was looking for something a little more teen-directed than pre-teen, I suppose. The chapters are incredibly short, and in typical fashion, the girl becomes best friends with a boy and their relationship quickly develops. Adults are never involved, another boy enters the scene and the first boy is a giant science geek and performs rudimentary experiments on her. What fifteen-year-old boy owns a powerful microscope these days and knows the difference between plant and animal cells? Furthermore, I couldn't tell if the characters were thirteen or seventeen. The writing suggests thirteen, the activities suggest seventeen but the text says fifteen.
So what I did enjoy.
I liked the twist on the usual faerie-tale saga. The fact they're plants- highly evolved plants, however- is a fun twist. I'd have liked to have seen more 'plantish' behaviour, but it worked for where it was needed. I liked the troll element, in a way, but I think it fell a bit weak. Barnes will clearly return, that much is obvious. Laurel is a realistic enough character. A little perfect, yes, but she seems to be somewhat neurotic. Hopefully Pike will develop this tiny trait. But everybody's a little bit too perfect. I guess that is fairly obvious, though, when [a:Stephenie Meyer|941441|Stephenie Meyer|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1250877761p2/941441.jpg] calls it a remarkable debut.
I don't think I'll be reading the sequel, but I may check the movie out when it's released. I'm somewhat gagging, though, at the prospect of playing Laurel. I honestly pictured someone more along the lines of Taylor Swift. If they had to pick a singer/sometime two-bit actor, it'd be her. At least she's blonde and has pale skin.
