Zajímavý námět. Pěkná kniha, jen začátek bych zrychlil/a. Příjemně se četla, rychle ubíhala, ale moc předvídatelný děj. Zase "milostný trojúhelník".

I went into it with the mindset that it would be a fluffy, light read, and I came out of it with the same feelings. It was a cute romance novel, with the usual girl who has to choose between two AMAZING guys. I thought it had a couple good twists, and I'm excited to read the next ones :)
One day a flower grows out of Laurel's back. Shortly thereafter she discovers she's a plant. Luckily her would be boyfriend is OK with dating a plant, in fact he thinks it's kind of cool. This of course raises the question as to what he was really doing with that iceberg lettuce in his room.
The premise of this book is whacked enough that I really should like it...sorry to say it just wasn't working. There was a lot of talk about petals which was just creepy, and would be boyfriend even asked if he could touch her petals, to which she demurely agreed.
Then there was the mouth to mouth experiment where she breathed out oxygen and he breathed out carbon dioxide. Personally I always thought the touching of the petals came after the mouth to mouth...seems I was wrong.
The good v. evil battle towards the end redeemed the book a little, but not nearly enough. Still it is the authors debut novel and I can forgive a lot in a first effort.

Loved this book. A nice orginal take on the fairy story that i can recommend to tween girls. I hear it is being made into a movie that will star Miley Miley Cyrus.
at first glance, (and when trying to explain it to people) this book seems too whimsical and a bit childish (oh look! a fairy!!) but its actually really really awesome!! and i wish they would hurry up with the film they were supposedly going to make of it!!
2nd time reading this favorite book from my high school years and still love this series so much! Highly recommend!

Okay so when I read what this book was about I started thinking: "Hum...I have seen this before...Oh yeah I remember now, Wicked Lovely, and I didn't like that!" so I didn't really want to buy it...But the thing is, I couldn't find any other book in the place where I was shopping, so I took it.
And thank god I did too! It as nothing to do with Melissa Marr's book, it's so much better. It's actually a refreshing read! Wicked Lovely was...too "heavy" for my taste, too much information almost no action. But that's just my opinion.
However, there is ONE,only one, bad thing about Wings... See when I started reading it, David seemed cool: outgoing, cared for Laurel, helped her, didn't care if she wasn't human, bla bla bla...But then, when Tamani appears, the author seems to forget about David a little bit. Of course him and Laurel still speak, and he's still nice...But it just isn't the same. So,yes, before you ask, I did think that Laurel should've picked Tamani...That's what I would've done anyway.

Initially this was both rated five stars and on my 'favorites' shelf, but I had to go back and really look at the book again. I read it in December of 2010 when I was fifteen and I loved it at the time, I truly did. I didn't see anything wrong with the book or the characters.
I think I managed to keep myself under the illusion that this was a good book for so long because from book two to four, it got better.
Recently though, I went back and really looked closely at the book. Most people are right: Laurel is a Mary Sue in this book. She's sickeningly perfect. I wish I could justify this by saying, "Oh, she's a faerie. Of course she's perfect." But no one wants to read about a Mary Sue. It didn't stop with Laurel, either. David was sickeningly perfect, too, and even Tamani.
The series isn't all bad, honestly. Things got better after this book and as things happened, character development happened, but it's hard to get through this book, I'm not going to lie about that anymore. I still love this series, I still admire what Aprilynne has done with the faeries, but I can't really love this book anymore just because it's connected to my favorites. It's really hard to get through.
