I love Dickens but this was just unsatisfying and kind of too clever for its own good

It is definitely time for me to read a happy book.

This was a weird book. At 200 pages, I thought the book seemed "done". So Jasper did it, big deal. I guess nobody knows for sure, and that's the thing.

Something is terribly wrong with me, because now I'm reading "Drood".
So much easier reading than Dickens, I must say.

i really like the characters but there's a really excessive amount of borderline unreadable purple prose especially in the first "half" of the novel. it's pretty enjoyable once it simmers down and gets over itself in the latter half, and i especially love rosa's arc

This is a great mystery and it's a shame we'll never know how it ends. It's starts off slowly but really picks up around page 90 or so. As usual with Dickens' books, there are a lot of details that seem unnecessary but turn out meaning something in the end. What end?!?
