Overall, I just wasn't connecting to the material. I appreciate the historical context the book provided about someone we aren't typically educated on, but it just wasn't for me.

I read this for a book club. I’ve been slowly working through it the past 2 months, because this is not a book I would pick up on my own. It’s only 3.5 stars because I just don’t like this genre of book 😆 But that’s why I do book clubs. To force myself to read important books/authors that I wouldn’t normally read.

So boring I just couldn’t do it

This was a difficult read. The writing style was so inaccessible and made it a slog.

So, if it wasn't for the Governerds reading this for book club, I would have quit a long time ago. It just drug on and on. I like to read all different genres and this book just didn't do it for me. I kept getting distracted while I was reading and then I'd realize, I have no idea what I just read. I read like 4 chapters in the beginning and had no idea what I'd read so I started over. Still no clue. The writing isn't very reader friendly. It was like reading a text book. I rated this 2 stars for the few parts that did capture my attention, but it was very few.

This was a painful read. I can confidently say I will not read a book from this author again.
