Never read anything like this. First you just get lots of details and then a storyline to then get flashbacks and crazy plot twist all in a course of maybe 3 days.

Giving it an extra star cuz it highlights the broken systems in America in a perspective that online in real live happens...

A creative writing teacher of mine once said that good storytelling “shows” instead of “tells.” This book was all “tell” and no “show.” Hardship and trauma are mistaken for character depth and development. The plot attempts to expose the plight of working class folks in a rapidly gentrifying Portland, but it reads as trauma porn performed unconvincingly by unsympathetic characters lacking in credibility. The writing style has been described by others as “naive”; to me, it felt sloppy.
