This book is written in very floury victorian language, so i’d recommend listening to an audio version if you don’t wish to be confused and stuck on speak, of which you do not understand.

Really fun read. Very little actual blood and gore but unapologetic depravity and wanton violence.

This was a fun read. It has the usual Victorian sensationalist novel issues of a meandering plot, irrelevant subplots, and two dimensional characters, but we all know we're just here for the throat-slitting and the long-pork pies.

I think the musical is better- both better-written and having versions of the characters and plot that I personally enjoy more- but I enjoyed this book. I like 19th century literature generally, and it was interesting to read this since I've been obsessed with Sweeney Todd for years. I didn't find most of the characters likeable at all, though, which brings down its rating a bit.
