Good for a single read, depressing, unlovable characters that could probably have been fleshed out more but the mystery was fun.
My type of book, loved Gillian’s writing which was well-paced but also a real page turner. Really liked Libby as a character and enjoyed hearing her journey. Overall, satisfied with the ending and was shocked when everything was pieced together. Would read again.

a satisfying ending overall. it draws out things until the very end. don't regret reading it but i regret how long it took me to do it.
Ah! I enjoyed this one more than Gone Girl. It has the same flashback structure of Gone Girl, but the twists are anything but straightforward. Instead it's a dense narrative with a really well-fleshed out universe examining themes of poverty, misinformation, the American Dream.
It is something like Lost. A larger who-dun-it, with a lot of mysteries that are slowly unpeeled little by little.
