I have enjoyed Richard Osman’s Thursday Murder Club books so much they have made him an auto-read author for me. Of course, when he announced he was going to take a break from Thursday Murder Club, I was a bit reluctant: I love those characters and all the shenanigans they get up to while solving the latest murder that plops in their laps. But, like I said, Osman has become an auto-read so I had to give We Solve Murders a fair shot.

Turns out that Richard Osman has one heck of a knack for creating characters that are fun, loveable, quirky, interesting, complex, and, for the bad guys, a little suspicious while also seeming so innocent. The style and delivery of the plot of We Solve Murders was different from his previous books. So, it was a little jarring but also helped me to remember I was not reading a Thursday Murder Club book.

With his trademark awesome characters and a plot that kept me guessing, and a resolution that surprised me, I’ll be back for the next installment of We Solve Murders--after the next promised Thursday Murder Club book!

When I started, my thought was, "This isn't as immediately charming as Thursday Murder Club" but that feedback was quickly forgotten as I was swept into this world with equally memorable and lovable characters. Some small quibbles about the many Britishisms that the supposedly American characters say, but honestly I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been listening to the audiobook. Osman has a knack for creating delightful characters --even villains!-- with the most lovable, or at least relatable, idiosyncrasies. And a plot that kept me guessing. Well friggin done. Bravo on a great start to a new series - I can't wait for the next release.

This was a lot of fun, and I'll be looking forward to the next one while catching up on Osman's other prior works. I especially enjoyed the bit on the Irish talk show. A couple of red herrings that I actually thought weakened the book, but overall, it was entertaining and the relationships between Amy and Steve and Amy and Adam were great. All we now need is a relationship between Steve and Adam, which I suspect will develop over time. Hope to see Rosie come back in the future as well. She was a really great pal!

I love this author, especially when I can listen to his writing with an excellent narrator.  This story jumps in with murders, money laundry, assassins-for-hire, and wonderful characters.

What fun!  I hope Mr Osman manages to keep both series going, but as long as he writes his brand of humour and human collection, I will be reading - and sharing.  Please keep Rosie in the mix, and there just aren't enough crazy Dutchmen like Henk in current fiction.  Highly recommended - and i'm about to gift a copy to my own crazy Dutch dad.  He's going to love it.

Great fun! A globetrotting mystery adventure with a quirky cast that includes a frighteningly competent body guard, her curmudgeonly ex-copper father-in-law, her high-rolling author client, plus bosses and bad guys, celebrities and wannabes, a cat called Trouble and a pub quiz team. You might have some of the mystery solved by the end, but Osman's writing is so compelling you'll read at a gallop and be happy for the ride.
