“If you have any sort of personality, someone will eventually want to kill you.”

I'm a big fan of the Thursday Murder Club series as I love the writing, characters and humor, so I couldn't resist adding this new series to my wishlist immediately. I admit that part of me was a bit worried that We Solve Murders wouldn't be quite as good as a new sequel of a series that is already a favorite... I ended up being wrong though, because I ended up loving We Solved Murders even more! The characters, the humor, the murder mystery, the writing, the international travel... There was so much to love in this first book, and I already can't wait to see what the characters will be up to next. We Solve Murders is in part a cozy mystery, although there is quite a lot of action and danger to be found along the way. I think the key is in the balance of that danger with lighter moments and a humor that was simply spot on for me. The cast of characters was amazing, and this made it really easy to start rooting for them from the very beginning. Both Amy and Steve make for such a great team, but my favorite character is without a doubt Rosie. She is such a hoot! There were some surprises along the way, and while I did guess part of the truth I personally didn't mind as I was too busy having fun following the characters around the world. I know it is still early in the year, but I'm having a sneaking feeling that We Solve Murders will end up on my list of 2025 favorites.

I can't get enough of the characters - and the tangled murder mystery plots - that Richard Osman creates. I was so excited to pick up his newest to hold me over while I'm anxiously awaiting the next installment of the Thursday Murder Club. A small part of me was worried that I may not enjoy this one as much as I do the TMC since I'm so attached to that world and those characters, but We Solve Murders did not disappoint. Osman creates such a palpable sense of tension without giving way to sheer anxiety in his novels, striking (in my opinion) the perfect balance for the cozy mystery genre! I had a hard time tearing myself away from this book once I'd started. It's the perfect snack - satisfying, sweet without being overly so, and you always wish you had more in the end! Sometimes there are so many characters that it can be easy to get a bit lost in the thick of the plot, but I always enjoy the way Osman writes his reveals - slowly peeling back one layer of the onion at a time into a deeply satisfying conclusion. This book was no exception - there were a lot of people and places to keep track of but it culminated in a fantastic ending that kept me hooked until the last few pages. I don't think I'll ever get sick of his books and look forward to reading many more!

I love this author, especially when I can listen to his writing with an excellent narrator.  This story jumps in with murders, money laundry, assassins-for-hire, and wonderful characters.

Great fun! A globetrotting mystery adventure with a quirky cast that includes a frighteningly competent body guard, her curmudgeonly ex-copper father-in-law, her high-rolling author client, plus bosses and bad guys, celebrities and wannabes, a cat called Trouble and a pub quiz team. You might have some of the mystery solved by the end, but Osman's writing is so compelling you'll read at a gallop and be happy for the ride.
