5 stars all the way. I don’t give 5 star reviews very often but this book had been hooked from the very beginning.
The book starts off on the first day of school when Joey and Aoife first lie their eyes on each other and there is an instant connection and attraction. However that is also the same day that Joey’s older brother decides to leave home and not look back. This puts Joey in the terrible position of having to act as a parent to his younger siblings.
The book slowly goes through the years. Aoife continually pursues Joey and he does everything to push her away. He’s dealing with so much at home and doesn’t want her anywhere near that.
Eventually they develop a friendship that is just so sweet.
However the road for these two is rough and they go through so much. Thank goodness the next book (Redeeming 6) is already out because I had to jump right into it.
If you’ve read Binding 13 and Keeping 13 you already know the awful things that have happened to the Lynch children but something about getting it from Joey’s perspective makes it hurt even more.
If you’re ready to dive in I suggest getting the tissues so they’re nearby.
Check trigger warnings, there are some very upsetting scenes.

this is so different from Binding & Keeping 13. Could finally see more of the things that happened in that house. i kinda think that Joey is better than Johnny by 2%.
