DANTE AND AMARA! soulmates. meant to be. chained together by that red string of fate. THIS was a very emotional journey. i knew it was a forbidden love story, yet i was still sitting there screaming, crying, throwing up when they couldn’t be together. runyx, you have once again gotten me into a chokehold.

i loved dante in the first two books and the emperor confirmed that he is in fact the most husband to ever husband. a man who is in tune with his emotions and will do anything for the person he loves? exactly. and my dearest darling amara. my sweet girl. my heart absolutely broke for her. i don’t want to spoil anything but let’s just say there were several times where i wanted to jump into the story and give her a big hug. also let me just add that i think i’m the biggest vin fan like runyx if you ever want to write a little spinoff story with him feel free to use me as inspo for the fmc.

this book wasn’t as suspenseful as tristan and amara’s story, but it held so much emotion and was just as heartbreaking. while i did enjoy dante and amara’s story, i kind of thought that the book drug a bit at the beginning. i liked that we got to see dante and amara as kids and how their friendship blossomed into romance, but i think that since the ending of the reaper was so intense and left me with so many questions i was ready to jump straight into unraveling what happened next. i am glad that we were able to see dante and amara evolve both as individuals and as a couple though because it gave me the chance to better understand them.

NOW…… it wouldn’t be me if i didn’t point out how cute tristan was throughout this book. i loved the little peeks of his friendship with dante and the subtle ways he took care of amara. AND THE TRISTANMORANA CRUMBS. i love them.

also loved that we got little hints of alpha and the shadowman because now i’m dying to read their books!

i love this series !!!

I'm here for the main plot at this point. I just felt like Dante and Amara's relationship started off well but then it kind of lost meaning. Their development wasn't executed how I thought it would and how things were implied in the first two books. Too much was being done to make Dante perfect and for these broken characters to be healed.

Other than that I'm looking forward to reading Alpha's story.

Main plot is having a lot more detail now and bit more graphic. Please check content warnings and read with caution.

There is something to me so emotional about Dante and Amara’s stories. I’m not sure if it’s the time period or if it’s their awareness of their emotions.

Dante’s emotional awareness and comfortability with his emotions makes this book one of the most romantic books I’ve encountered. The fierceness and loudness that they love each other makes the book unique.

The mafia vibes are strong, especially with the mafia prince known as Dante Maroni. The characters both had a lot to deal with, Amara especially but the I thought her trauma was deal with compassion and grace. From everyone in her life but Dante and her were bonded and chess pieces before they even knew.

So many moments will stand out to me from this book but the chess analogy might be my favorite.

To the King and Queen 💙

after the predator and the reaper, i was on such a high i thought this one would no doubt be just as good. i loved amara and dante's story, but this book felt like it was missing something the first two books in the series had. the insta-love, the weird age gap when she was younger, the lack of development in their relationship, and the cringey dialogues at some points brought this one down a few stars in my book. i still enjoyed it, just not as much as i thought i would.

This one definitely delved deeper into some darker themes (rape, trafficking, abuse, suicide, miscarriage). I enjoyed reading Amara and Dante’s story and loved that we got the dual POV. I also really liked that we didn’t pick up right at the end of The Reaper. We were able to go back and see them from the beginning. I’m so invested that I literally started and finished this in a few hours.
