The only reason this doesn't get five stars is because half of the questions would be solved earlier if only Cate used basic logic instead of waiting for answers to fall from the sky.

Okay. I have serious problems with this book, but not counting the many unanswered questions and peeves of mine, it was an enjoyable, fast-paced read. I'd give it an extra half star for creating a great boy-girl friendship that hopefully will never end in romance.
First of all, I barely have any time before I fall asleep, so this review has to be quick, and I'm extremely bad at writing reviews without notes.
The first thing that made me question this book was the Main Character's actions. Cate was likeable enough, but the problem I had was with how she was supposed to be 15 going on 16. It's been like half a year since I was that age, and I have no knowledge of ever acting like Cate did. Sometimes she was too childish, sometimes way too sex-driven...
Secondly, What was with those three characters? Balthazar, Melchior and Gaspar. As soon as I saw their names I was questioning why they were so familiar, because obviously they aren't the same in Hungarian. A few hundred pages later, lo behold, Cate says: "No normal person would ever make that connection." Yes, Cate, I know I'm not normal but are you that stupid??
Ah, so the third and final peeve I had with this book was how low Cate's standards were. Or otherwise the only way to explain is that literally every single Timesurfer is either extremely handsome or painfully beautiful. And not even fiction works like that!

There were a few good points in the book that went deeper than the story, and the pretty short-lived LGBTQ storyline really interested me, but turns out it was just another alternate timeline or whatever. But the views on good and bad in this was brilliant. Jonah being the man/boy who is supposed to be 'the enemy' being the 'most honorable person' Austin had ever met was adorable, and also great. Because not everything can be split into Good vs Bad. Even the Good do horrible things, while maybe the Bad have a soft spot for babies or charity or something other. The Midnight Society was okay with showing this view.

One final peeve to end this review- What is with leaving like fifty reveals till the final 20 pages? My brain can't handle that much new information!!

I really enjoyed The Midnight Society. The characters were fun, the plot was interesting and was paced well. The only issues I had with the book were that I found that some aspects of the magic weren't explained very well and some of the plot twists I found to be predictable. Overall, though, it is a really enjoyable and fun story that provides some very cool action scenes.

Why wait?

I had been putting off reading this and now I regret it! Read this book. The time travel, intricacies, and plot make for one fantastic read.

First off, I'm really sorry if this review sounds harsh, but I read this book after binge-reading a whole lot of Shadowhunter Chronicles short stories and extra scenes. I promise I really did enjoy it!

I enjoyed how it got right into the story and action, without too much background information, it made me feel like I was immersed into the story. Most of the time, I find it really hard to read about time-travel through multiple PoVs, but I didn't really have trouble following the story. While I loved most of the plot line, I wasn't really keen on the Hunger Games-ish scene toward the end. I didn't really enjoy the ending, and I felt it was too fast and impactless.

Some parts of the story didn't really sit right with me, and sometimes I kind of got the feeling that the author was trying to speak with a teenage voice, but it didn't really sound right and some of the terms used felt a bit odd when used by Cate and the others. At some points I felt a bit annoyed how everything was being told, not shown, with little bits of unnecessary information.

Cate is an interesting protagonist, I enjoyed reading through her perspective, but some parts had me physically rolling my eyes at what she was doing or how she was acting, but I suppose that's the idea of having a 15-year-old protagonist, haha. Jonah is so cute, and when things I thought would happen didn't, I found it highly refreshing. The story is full of almost-cliches, which was actually kind of fun to read.

All in all, I did enjoy reading it and will be back for the next installment :)

I don’t usually read time travel books but this sucked me in and so glad it did!
Action packed, funny one liners and constant twists and turns that kept me guessing.
Can’t wait for the next instalment.

Great book! Can't wait until the next.

I will admit that the beginning was a little bit of a slow start for me. I'm not sure what it was, but I did end up getting completely absorbed in the book and didn't want to put it down. I ended up falling in love with the characters and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

Midnight Society is Book 1 in Rhonda Sermons The Midnight Chronicles.

Wow, what an amazing read. This book was so entertaining and thrilling the whole way through it, I almost didn't want it to end.

There is so much happening in this story, the setup, the backstory and how bits and pieces of the plot come together, it does take a degree of concentration to absorb it all.

Heaps of thrills, plot twists and reveals, action, humour. Such an awesome YA urban fantasy in a world where magic and time travel is an everyday occurrence for those in the know.

All the characters, from the central to support, are amazing and have their own distinct personalities, pros and cons and parts to play in the story.

I loved how we as the audience had to work through most of the book before everything was revealed and we were not spoon fed any of the plot at anytime. We pretty much had to work it.

Fans of Richelle Mead, Claudia Gray and Cassandra Clare will love this.

I cannot wait for book 2.

DISCLAIMER: I was gifted an Amazon copy of this book in exchange for honest review.

Dang it! When I started reading, all I wondered was how everything would play out. How the story unfolds is a complete and total surprise.

This book follows Cate, a young girl who lives with her mother, Emme, and younger brother, Xavier. Their family is under surveillance in the witness protection program because Cate and her father had both been kidnapped. Cate's mother had worked with black ops, which might explain why Cate is a black belt and quick n her feet (to an extent).

Cate wonders if she is going insane. Every morning when she wakes up, something is different than the day before, but no one around her seems to notice. Hence the feelings of near-insanity. For example, her boyfriend, Zach, was never popular and they got along because of the fact. one minute he is singing sonnets, and the next he is breaking up with her over a text and telling her he is now with the head cheerleader. I know, breaking up through a text is the lowest, most pathetic thing anyone can do.

Cate's world is changing every day. Things begin to unwind on one particular day at a bus stop. A mysterious stranger who could be a Ralph Lauren model shows up in town and Cate's kidnapper radar is on full alert. That is, until the world stops turning and time freezes. But why is Cate not frozen like the rest of the waiting bus patrons? This is where Cate meets Austin, Rose and Rafe, three members of the Order, which can also be known as the Midnight Society.

This story is suspenseful and thrilling. There are surprises around every corner, and several 'AHA' moments as things suddenly make perfect sense. On a happy note, it was amazing! On the sad note? It ended on a bit of a cliffhanger and I don't know what I am going to do until the next book comes out. For a debut novel, this is phenomenal. I am going to keep this one on my radar. I NEED to know what comes next.
