Wow, a lot of things are happening here. Love the court hearing aspect in Yuji’s story and how he made it his advantage. Megumi was also really cool here and he grows more and more on me - maybe he’s becoming one of my faves? I do hope that after this quite fast-paced volume the story won’t drag on but that this pacing continues.

Am I the only one who saw Kakashi’s one thousand years of death in this book?

love the irony of Higuruma joining the culling games for the absence of the laws he's governed by. it's like a twist of the mad scientist sub-genre with a mad lawyer. i enjoyed the fight scenes in this volume, specifically Yuji's. not a big fan of Megumi's fight scenes, as there was no real threat. the band of antagonists were only there to bolster each other's presence because none of them were interesting enough on their own. i didn't like the repetitive trope of the characters conveniently concealing some undisplayed power during battle, which occurred in Megumi's last fight. it just seemed like heavy plot armor to me.
